Version 3 of SMEStorage Rest API Released

We’ve updated our Rest API to accommodate Public Files. We’ve had quite a few suggestions for the API which are mainly centered around what people want to see on top of Amazon S3. We think this is becoming more important as Amazon S3 is becoming increasingly important as storage place for Cloud data offerings. Essentially our REST API is a layer on top of this that provides business functionality API’s for the data. There are of course other initiatives with providing a file system API for Amazon S3 but we have concentrated more on providing business functionality for stored data which we think will become increasingly important moving forward. This of course will be accessible to all S3 users when we finish the work to open up our platform to any S3 User.

    1. [...] Well, SMEStorage Explorer is finally released. It is a windows explorer for SMEStorage.com that allows you to upload and download your files to any of the storage platforms we support, which include Amazon S3. If you take part in our OpenS3 programme you can use your Amazon S3 keys and take advantage of using the tool to upload / download files, share files, and collaborate with business groups. When you install SMEStorage Explorer, if you have Microsoft Office and/or OpenOffice installed you will get another toolbar that allows you to open and save files to the SMEStorage cloud, which again includes Amazon S3. Pretty nice we think. This was built using the SMEStorage REST API. [...]
